Day 1:  Johannesburg to Kruger Park Area
Watch Johannesburg fade in your rearview as you pass through Mpumalanga’s coalfields, which produce an astounding 80% of the country's coal, to Kruger National Park. At the park, enjoy a leisurely game drive—sundowner in hand—absorbing nature's splendour against the backdrop of an African bush sunset.

Day 2:  Kruger National Park
It's up on your feet early this morning to spend most of the day on safari in Kruger National Park, unrivalled as South Africa's largest wildlife sanctuary (4.9 million acres) and home to countless animal species. See how many of the Big 5 you can spot—animals so renowned they even feature on South African banknotes! Return to camp to share and compare all the amazing sightings of the day.

Day 3:  Kruger Park – Panorama Route
Today, you head out to view jaw-dropping scenery along the Panorama Route. This route is jam-packed with one natural attraction after another, such as canyons, plateaus, cascading waterfalls, cliffs, and prominent landmarks such as Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels, and God’s Window. Bring your camera!

Day 4:  Kruger Park - Eswatini
An early start, departing Kruger for the landlocked country-within-a-country, Eswatini. Be prepared for excellent game-sighting opportunities along the way. Once through the border, you head for the picturesque Ezulwini Valley (aka Valley of Heaven) to your campsite.

Day 5:  Eswatini (Swaziland)/Eswatini - Milwane Nature Reserve
Embark on a guided nature walk this morning in the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, one of Eswatini’s highly recommended hiking spots spanning 4,560 hectares. Afterward, explore the place at your own leisure, feeling safe knowing there are no dangerous animals within the sanctuary.

Day 6:  Eswatini (Swaziland) to St Lucia
Wave goodbye to the Swazi people as you cross the border back into South Africa. En route, wind through the Zululand hills towards the coastal town of St. Lucia.

Day 7:  St Lucia and Umfolozi - Hluhluwe Game Reserve
Today, you have further opportunities to spot the Big 5, particularly rhino, during your safari through the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve. The park is also home to a wide variety of other wildlife, including cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, blue wildebeests, giraffes, zebras, Nile crocodiles, hippos, and plenty more. In the afternoon, board a boat to explore the magnificent iSimangaliso Wetland Park estuary, South Africa's first UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 8:  Drakensberg Mountains
You head inland today to the 1,125 km-long uKhahlamba-Drakensberg mountain range, offering up phenomenal scenery along the way. Ancient San rock art haunts its caves, and diverse ecosystems are entrenched in its valleys and rugged cliffs. En route, you make a stop at Howick Falls, the second-tallest waterfall in South Africa (95m), and visit the notorious Capture Site where Nelson Mandela was arrested in 1962.

Day 9:  UKhahlamba Drakensberg Park
Strap on your boots and explore uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park on a group hike. With 240,000 hectares of forest, rivers, cliffs, and valleys, the park contains trails of varying difficulty, ranging from leisurely strolls to adventure routes. Take your pick... and a water bottle.

Day 10:  Lesotho
Enjoy the unfolding scenery as you leave uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park and make your way to your accommodation in Semonkong, crossing the border into Lesotho at Maseru Bridge.

Days 11:  Lesotho
Partake in a rejuvenating two-hour hike to the renowned Maletsunyane waterfall this morning, where the river plummets 186 metres down, creating a smokey mist. No wonder Semonkong is known as ‘Place of Smoke'!

Day 12:  South Africa – Graaff Reinet
Say goodbye to Lesotho and return to South Africa today, cutting through the Karoo to your accommodation in Graaff Reinet, a town with a lot of history. As you journey, take note of the drastic changes in scenery, from lush and mountainous to vast aridity. Late afternoon, when the sun gets low, take an excursion into the Valley of Desolation, where majestic columns of dolerite protrude 120 metres from the valley floor.
Note: This excursion can take place the following morning in the winter months.

Day 13:  Gqeberha (Addo Elephant National Park)
Leaving the sunbaked Karoo dust behind, you head for the coast to your accommodation in South Africa’s hardest-to-pronounce city, Gqeberha (previously named ‘Port Elizabeth’). On the way, you stop in for a close-up encounter with elephants at Addo Elephant National Park, which houses roughly 600 elephants and a many other large mammals.

Day 14:  Greater Addo Elephant National Park area
This morning, you revisit Addo Elephant National Park to explore the greater park area. Even though elephants are the park’s main focus, Addo is South Africa’s third-largest national park, and there’s plenty more wildlife to see that you won't want to miss!

Day 15:  Tsitsikamma National Park
You hit the road early this morning, making a quick detour to Jeffreys Bay, every surfer’s dream destination. The bay offers prime surfing conditions (especially the world-famous ‘Supertubes’ break), fantastic beaches, and hosts an annual World Surf League contest.  Then, it’s off to Tsitsikamma as today’s main destination.

Day 16:  Tsitsikamma National Park
Grab your sunscreen and tighten your shoelaces—you hike the Tsitsikamma National Park today. Covering an 80-kilometre stretch of protected coastline, the park provides a unique beauty that only ocean-meets-shore scenery can provide. Footpath options are available to match your energy levels: there’s a relaxing boardwalk stroll to Storms River Mouth, or the main event is a tougher hike along the Waterfall Trail, which covers the first section of the Otter Trail. Post-hike, optional activities are available: an educational Woodcutters Journey tour through the forest, or for the adventurous, ziplining or bungee jumping.

Day 17:  Oudtshoorn
After taking in gorgeous views at stops in Natures Valley and Knysna, you journey inland over the colossal Outeniqua mountain range to Oudtshoorn, jokingly referred to as the ‘Ostrich Capital of the World’! You then head to explore the underground chambers of Oudtshoorn's most famous hidden attraction, the Cango Caves.

Day 18:  Route 62 - Barrydale
You spend your morning admiring one of the country’s most beloved animals, the meerkat! These charismatic creatures are entertainers by nature; they just don’t know it, which makes them even more endearing. After that, the truck hits the scenic Route 62, making stops at various farm stalls, with a highlight stop at Ronnie’s Sex Shop, which —disappointing to some and a relief to others—is not actually a sex shop but rather an extraordinary pub.

Day 19:  The Cape Whale Coast & Africa’s Southernmost Tip
Enjoy the unfolding village scenery on your return journey to the coast, with a highlight experience—Cape Agulhas, which is not only the southernmost tip of Africa, but also a place where the cold Atlantic and warmer Indian oceans meet. After that, you travel the Whale Coast route, a magnificent stretch of coastline connecting a collection of farms and villages. Heading for Cape Town, you stop along the way in Hermanus to look out for southern right whales. Next stop is Stony Point Nature Reserve to observe the largest colony of African Penguins before arriving in Mother City, probably the most beautiful place to end a tour. Hamba kahle!
