A small group accommodated safari taking in some of Southern Africa's best known attractions. Leaving Johannesburg, we cross the Limpopo River and make our way to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. We enjoy a visit to the Matobo National Park - famous for it's rhino population. Next is Victoria Falls - adventure capital of Southern Africa. Enjoy a cruise down the mighty Zambezi River. Crossing into Botswana we visit Chobe National Park, famous for its huge herds of elephants and also host to Africa's Big 5.  A cruise down the Chobe River allows up close viewing and combined with a 4x4 Safari Game Drive (optional) gives you a great overview of the area. A guided village walk and an optional visit to Makgadikgadi Pans at Gweta. We explore the waterways and channels of the Okavango Delta in a traditional dug-out Mokoro. Semi luxury camping in the Delta, makes for a fantastic photographic wildlife and birdlife experience.   We spend the night at Khama Rhino Sanctuary and enjoy a dusk game drive.

Day 1:  Pretoria to Polokwane Game Reserve
We depart the bustling city and head towards the Limpopo Province. This area is rich in culture and is highly rated as a southern Africa Eco-tourism destination. Here we gain insights into the Bakone tribe and their traditions. An informative open-air museum is where we learn about their making fire, how they harvested their food and about their interesting, beautifying decorative aspects of their dwellings.

Day 2:  Polokwane to Bulawayo (Zimbabwe)
Today we have a long drive as we leave South Africa and cross the Limpopo River into Zimbabwe.  Travelling through rural Zimbabwe, we head for Bulawayo, the second largest city in Zimbabwe. In the afternoon we have time to explore this historical town.  Note that this is dependent on how long border formalities take.

Day 3:  Bulawayo – Matobo National Park
Today we board our open game vehicles and head to the Matobo National Park. Known for its spectacular rock formations, this world heritage site is home to numerous bushman paintings as well as a large population of black and white rhinos. There is also a large concentration of leopards and the magnificent black eagle.  We enjoy a game walk where we have a chance to view these animals and rest in the afternoon at our own leisure. Matobo National Park is also home to infamous Cecil John Rhodes and there is an optional full day tour available where we travel to his grave and also explore the beautiful Matabo hills and visit some ancient bushman paintings.

Day 4:  Bulawayo to Victoria Falls
Our journey continues north as we head to Victoria Falls – one of the seven natural wonders of the world. We arrive in the afternoon and check into our accommodation. Your guide will give some advice on what optional activities are typically available. We then head off on a sunset cruise up the Zambezi River where we have an opportunity to view elephants, hippos and other animals coming down to the river to drink. The Zambezi River and surrounding villages offer opportunities for both adrenaline as well as cultural activities.

Day 5:  Victoria Falls
This morning, we are up bright and early to visit the spectacular Victoria Falls. The rest of this exciting day is spent exploring this amazing area and partaking in some of the activities on offer.

 Day 6:  Victoria Falls to Chobe National Park
We depart Vic Falls and cross over the border into Botswana. We check into our accommodation in Kasane - a small wilderness town on the edge of the Chobe National Park. After lunch, we go on a game drive and boat cruise in the Chobe National Park. This area is well known for its huge herds of elephants and a high concentration of predators. Expect to encounter elephant, hippos, crocodiles and a large variety of antelope. Have your cameras ready.

Day 7:  Chobe National Park to Gweta
Today we travel through rural Botswana to Gweta. Elephant and buffalo are often spotted alongside the roads as the area is largely unfenced allowing the wildlife to roam free. In the afternoon there is an option to do an excursion to the Baobab Forest, or just relax at the lodge.

Day 8:  Gweta to Maun
An early breakfast is followed by a guided walk through the local Tswana village, providing insight into local culture and traditions. We then travel to Maun – the gateway to the Okavango Delta. Arriving in Maun, a real frontier town, we stock up on provisions before heading to our remote camp. The afternoon is spent unwinding with a cool drink and soaking up the bush atmosphere.

Day 9 & 10:  Okavango Delta
An exciting day begins with a 4x4 transfer deep into the bush to the delta. We meet our local guides, and pack our gear into the mokoros (traditional canoes).  We pole our way through this amazing wilderness area, with its winding waterways and incredible birdlife. The Okavango Delta is one of Africa’s true wilderness areas and many species of animals roam freely and migrate to the water during the dry months. The night is spent in a tented camp and there is time to explore the area on foot. The evening is spent in permanent tents with basic en-suite facilities. In the morning we head off on an early morning nature walk. After breakfast we depart our camp and pole through the channels back to land. The afternoon is spent exploring the town or taking an optional scenic flight over the delta.

Day 11:  Maun to Khama Rhino Sanctuary
We depart the waterways of the Okavango and travel through the dry Kalahari. Our destination is the Rhino sanctuary located on the Serowe Pan on the edge of the Kalahari. In the afternoon we head out with local rangers for a informative game drive to explore the area and learn about the endangered rhino as well as other interesting info about the local area.

Day 12:  Martin's Drift to Pretoria
The final day sees us crossing the Limpopo River and travelling through South Africa to the bustling city of Johannesburg. We arrive in Pretoria in the late afternoon.
